Maths Circle FAQ

Here are the questions most frequently asked:

Q. What times do you offer tutoring?

A. I try to work around you. If you need tutoring in the evenings or at the weekend then I can normally accomodate this.

Q. How often will I or my child require tutoring?

A. Some adults/children I teach once every week; some children I teach once every half term and others, aiming for their GCSE Grades, are taught up to twice a week. It all depends on yours or your child's ability, willingness to learn and their personal target.

Q. What do the Key Stages mean?

A. You can read a full explanation of all key stages here.

Q. What do the levels mean and how do they differ from Key Stages?

A. You can read a full explanation of all levels here.

Q. Do we need to provide anything e.g. books etc

A. I will provide all necessary materials for your child to work with. If you require help with their homework, then please ensure that they have their worksheets at hand.

Q. Why is my child not performing as well in secondary school as they did in primary school?

A. This can be caused by many factors such as adapting to a new environment; peer pressure within the classroom; change of teacher and teaching style; adolescence to name but a few. Some or all these factors could have an effect on your child's performance. In my experience, to help your child to achieve their potential, they just require a boost in their self-esteem by correcting any misconceptions as well as enhancing their understanding to help them relate to their subject more effectively.
